“A dog is the only creature on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.”

Ken & Muff
This is Miss “Muff”, the sweet little stray that truly changed my life! Pictured here, as she was when she showed up in October of 1988, working on weaseling her way into our hearts! She was a stray that had been dumped in the country, full of mats, burrs, and fleas. I intended to clean her up and find her a good home, but by the time she was cleaned up, I had absolutely fallen in love with her!

Barb, Ken & Muff
This is Muff in 1997. We had her for the rest of her life, and she gradually turned my heart from the dog show world toward rescue, as I began volunteering for rescue groups and developed a passion for helping rescue and finding forever homes for homeless pets. My husband, Ken, had never been allowed to have a dog as a child, and he had a very special bond with Muff, too. Ken is now helping me with my training classes, as well.

 Judging  Judging
It was always such an honor to be invited to judge this beautiful and very special breed! Shetland Sheepdogs will always have a huge place in my heart, as they shared our lives for forty years.

Princess

This is Princess, pictured in front of the sign at our home in Mustang, OK. September was our kennel name, established in 1969. We raised and showed Shetland Sheepdogs for 30 years.

Sharing a few photos of some of our champion shelties and our miniature horses from past years…

We also enjoyed raising a few registered miniature horses throughout the years on our acreage in Mustang, Oklahoma. Surrey, the tiny foal pictured below, was only one week old, stood a mere 15 1/2 inches tall and weighed only 10 1/2 pounds. She only outweighed our cat by half a pound!

Fully grown, Misty, Princess and Chigger (pictured below) stood at 27 3/4 inches tall, 31 inches tall, and 32 inches tall, respectively. Surrey later matured to her dam’s height at 27 3/4 inches.

I had the delight of handling our “Misty”, Surrey’s dam, to Grand Champion Mare at the 1982 Miniature Horse National Show in Murray, Kentucky!

Here are a few of our “promising” youngsters through the years. Some did obtain points (including major points) toward their championship, and all were very much loved…
